You will spend a couple of hours picking fruit or vegetables. This may require bending and lifting. Wear comfortable clothing, appropriate for the weather.
The Gleaning Network of the Society of St. Andrew mobilizes about 40,000 volunteers each year. Last year, we picked more than 23 million pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables - all delivered to food banks, soup kitchens, and other agencies that feed the hungry. Along with an additional 10 million pounds donated in bulk by growers and packing houses, we supplied more than 33 million pounds - about 100 million servings of nutrituious food to those who need it most.
